
Eliza T. Davis
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Eliza has extensive experience advising clients on data privacy, information governance, and eDiscovery issues. A skilled litigator, she is adept at managing all phases of discovery, including directing document review and production, developing review protocols, as well as handling the meet and confer process and motions practice. She has experience handling matters concerning contract disputes, internal investigations, data governance, and data privacy. Eliza also has significant courtroom experience arguing motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and discovery motions, along with serving as second chair at arbitrations and mediations. She is a talented leader and focuses on organizing and directing workflows to strategically and efficiently meet deadlines and provide clients with holistic and practical solutions.
Eliza’s recent work experience includes:

Overseeing case strategy and development, including providing legal guidance and recommendations to in-house counsel

Managing investigations, including developing potential defenses and shaping case strategy, preparing case budgets, and examining witnesses

Developing internal and external data privacy policies and advising clients on compliance with state and federal privacy regulations, including the CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and FERPA

Advising clients on developing eDiscovery Playbooks and strategies for approaches to discovery from matter opening through legal hold release

Developing processes to analyze and properly dispose of paper and electronic information

Crafting policies on records retention, acceptable technology use, and appropriate use of mobile devices, instant messaging, and workplace collaboration tools

Overseeing trial preparation, including preparing key witnesses for depositions, taking and defending depositions, and drafting discovery requests

Conducting custodian interviews and identifying relevant sources of data and information
Prior to joining Redgrave LLP, Eliza worked as an associate at Nixon Peabody LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT & MEMBERSHIPS:
Eliza is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the National Association of College and University Attorneys, and The Sedona Conference® Working Groups 1, 6, and 11. She is a Certified International Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).
EDUCATION:
Eliza received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and her B.A., with high distinction and honors, from the University of Michigan. During law school, she was an Articles Editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law. Eliza is admitted to practice in Illinois.
