Matt Rotert Speaks at The Sedona Conference Working Group 6 Annual Meeting 2026
On February 26, Matt Rotert will join the panel “Responsible Use of Personal Data in Cross-Border Business” at the Sedona Conference Working Group 6 (WG6) Annual Meeting 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
Organizations routinely collect and use personal data from customers and third parties to drive innovation, improve services, and meet business objectives. This session examines how these activities intersect with an expanding web of privacy and data protection laws, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and other considerations, including professional responsibility requirements. These constraints can be difficult to navigate when considering the primary purpose of collection and processing, but become particularly challenging when organizations seek to leverage collected data for secondary uses (e.g., harmonizing such uses with Recital 47 of the GDPR). This panel will explore the responsible and lawful use of protected data by organizations in the context of cross-border data transfers, particularly in light of increasing regulatory and contractual complexities, with an aim of revisiting the formation of a brainstorming group on this critical topic.
