Ray Mangum and Michael Kearney Speak at The Sedona Conference Working Group 13 Midyear Meeting 2025
Ray Mangum and Michael Kearney will speak at The Sedona Conference Working Group 13 (WG13) Midyear Meeting 2025, occurring September 11-12 in Reston, VA.
On September 11, Ray will participate in the panel “Reports From AI Regulatory Crosswalk & AI Consensus Definitions Drafting Teams.” The panel will first introduce an AI regulatory crosswalk, comparing how existing legal frameworks in the U.S., Canada, and other jurisdictions address key issues, highlighting both effective coverage and gaps where new or amended legislation may be needed, and weighing the merits of comprehensive versus targeted approaches to AI legislation. Additionally, the panel will discuss the effort to build a shared legal vocabulary through the AI Consensus Definitions initiative, which is developing foundational terms to support legal analysis, policy, and professional guidance.
Michael will also speak on September 11 on the panel “Navigating AI Governance - Current Frameworks, Legal Considerations, Corporate Practices, and Future Readiness,” and discuss how AI continues to reshape industries and legal landscapes. The panel will showcase a number of experts to explore the evolving domain of AI governance – how organizations can responsibly select, assess, and integrate AI technologies while preparing to meet emerging legal and regulatory expectations. This session will also provide an update on the work of the AI Governance Brainstorming Group and the progress made to date in addressing each of these topics.
