Ragan, Senior Counsel, Redgrave LLP: “During 2022, the information law field witnessed the enactment of various state data privacy initiatives and new comprehensive legislation, the continued explosive growth of corporate data, including in cloud applications, and the finding that more than 60% of global cybersecurity incidents had origins in the cloud or with business partners. In addition, the International Standards Organization published two new standards—one on Information Governance and one revising the standard for information security management systems. The latter includes new controls for deletion of information no longer needed and for security concerning the use of cloud services. These developments will likely fuel organizations’ increased activity and momentum for information governance and data minimization programs in 2023.”
